Social Interaction in Danger...

Many of my friends are coming home from being away at school so I have been trying to spend time with them. While hanging out I noticed how much each one of us was on our phones and I immediately got upset. I love my friends and spending time with them, so why do we each feel the need to be on our phones while interacting/being with each other. I mean, wouldn't we rather talk to the person in front of us instead of worrying about what is transpiring on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.?
Media has completely taken over our lives. I just hope I can wean off of it in order to enjoy the people I am with and the places I am in. Just my random thought for the day....

The Next Big Thing for Virtual Reality

I was very intrigued when I came across this article on Forbes about the company Magic Leap. This company has spent the past two years and a lot of other people's money creating a new type of virtual reality technology. No more will people have to put on some chunky hideous goggles in order to experience some cool ass visions. Magic Leap has created a technology that attempts to integrate virtual sights and sounds into the real-life spaces and moments we occupy using a "semitransparent set of lenses photonic lightfield chip that lets users see distance-adjusted apparitions merrily inhabit the ‘real’ world around them".

The next big thing is here, however it is still not available to the public!

Don't Just Stand By

Cyber bullying is a huge issue in today's society that I believe has become a bigger problem as the age of the internet progresses. Many people have become victims to internet bullying and harassment and it makes me wonder, why do people just watch it happen instead of intervening?

I feel as though the individuals who just allow things to unravel on the screen are just as guilty as the individuals engaging in the act of bullying. Put yourself in the victim's position....... wouldn't you want someone to speak up on your behalf or have a good Samaritan fight for you when you can't even fathom what is happening to you?

I have faith that the internet has created a space for people to stand up to bullying. However, I do not believe enough people use their voice to express the wrongness of the activities that go on over the internet.

It is time to speak up, bystanders.

Are Commercials Dead?

Thanks to the evolution of television technology, viewers have been able to avoid commercials whenever they want. This change in television consumption has changed the way companies advertise to viewers. More and more we see ad and brand placements by companies in our favorite TV shows and movies in order to get around the fact that people are not watching their ads.
This brings me to an interesting topic I read about on Forbes website. SNL (Saturday Night Live) reported that they will be cutting back on commercials by 30%, but that does not mean NBC will be losing money from its advertisement revenue. The popular comedy show has decided to introduce sponsored content during their running time. If you like SNL you have seen their commercial spoofs making fun of certain companies and now they will add skits starring the comedians which will be product/brand sponsored.

Is SNL onto a new type of marketing technique? Or are they just trying to get rid of the annoying commercials for their viewers?
